Whats wrong with my Suv?

Kj Says: When I start my vehicle, it sounds like a loud squeaking noise, like a belt or something, and when i press on the gas, it gets louder. Can anyone tell me what this is?

Bill Says: That's definatley a loose fan belt.

Tom C Says: serp. belt could be worn or any of the pulleys it drives could have a bad bearing , to check belt open the hood and look to see if belt has small cracks, to check pulleys remove belt and spin each one and see if any have resistance or wobble.

bandit_60 Says: yes dear i would say it,s the belt. it might need replacing or adjusted. it depends on that kind of SUV you have. some are harder to change then others.

mister ss Says: get the serpentine belt replaced and have the belt tensioner checked.
