1. sniperxzx Says: So im looking to buy a car and I want to run the vin but im not sure whether to use carfax or autocheck. I put the vin in on both websites and autocheck has 11 records and carfax has 20. But alot of people tell me that autocheck is better in finding accidents. So which one should I use? Carfax does have more records but most of those are probably just regular maintenance.
Also if someone can check it for me the vin is: JHMAP11452T006237
2. David G Says: I'd go with AutoCheck. When a dealer auction does a post sale inspection on a vehicle and they find frame damage they report it to AutoCheck. I've seen a lot of cars come up completely clean on Carfax only to find frame damage or something else on AutoCheck. For $3.50 you can use checkthatvin.com, but that only really checks for a salvage title - not minor accidents.
3. Top Source Says: CarFax was successfully sued for not providing what they promised.

Still, I'd use at least both and try to find a 3rd.

US Dept of Justice's MV Title Info System: http://www.vehiclehistory.gov/nmvtis_faq.html#history . Low-level perps busted, crooked used-car dealers walk.
4. Project D Says: Carfax does bro. Don't you see the little "Car Fox" in the commercial...of course they do their homework dude.
5. szenehaube Says: Carfax is the best, used it for several years to buy great cars and trucks.
