Is this a reliable car?
(2011-11-26 15:30:05) 1. Says: 2005 vw beetle convertible.. It has 36k miles. The asking price is 11k. I know that jettas aren't very reliable and they break down a lot, but what about beetles?I'm 18 and this would be my first car.2. Says: i dont know about the person above me who said beetles are made in mexico and that is bad... but. i can tell you that the price for the beetle is very good.
also please do not think jettas are not very reliable. my friend has a 1995 jetta and it has 394,000 miles on it before he sold it!!!!! and he sold it for 1,000 dollars, but he did get his moneys worth. also another friend of mine has a jetta that is a 05 and has 190k miles on it. both never had any maintainance problems and the one who had 394k finally started to have problems so he sold it. i do not know anyone else who has a jetta but i can tell you from these two friends of mine, jettas are very reliable.
either way, whatever you choose, just go on kbb.com and put your car in and read reviews. there might be other issues besides the maintainance that you dont knwo about. such as gas mileage, how comfortable it is, also speed...

Says: NONONONONO!!!!!! they are produced in Mexico! i'm not being racist, i'm saying they are produced by unskilled and underpaid folks, which means cheap workmanship. european cars are also hell to work on and can be expensive to get worked on as well. most parts under the hood of Beetles are also cheap. do more research, you can find 50 cars better than that. they have some BMWs as new as '05 at buy-here-pay-here lots priced under 10K. at least in my part of the world it is. research!!!
