My car keeps overheating! :(?
(2011-11-29 15:20:48) 1. Says: Hello. I have a 99 chevy cavalier. recently my car started getting really hot. the needle kept moving closer to the red and once it did i pulled over & my car started smoking. well, i bought antifreeze, oil and a new cooling fan plug which just plugs in because i thought the old one might have been bad. well, i test drove it & it did the same thing. my fan by the motor isnt running at all so maybe that is it. my mom thinks i blew a headgasket. I have no clue what it may be but i need it fixed asap becasue i have a job & attend college. please comment. Thank you so much.2. Says: Well I do recommend taking it to.a shop at this point, but I made a list for you to know a little and hopefully better informed.1. Yes fan by motor needs to work on its own. When temperature reaches around 170 degrees.15mins of car running on average so look out for that.
2. Look at oil level, and condition of oil. Google contaminated oil to see what it looks like. A sign of headgasket issue is oil that is mixed with coolant from radiator.3. Says: I agree with ????. Also, make sure your compressor is working. This is the part that makes your AC work and if this part doesn't work, or is having problems, then it can create serious problems with your car. Also, check all your fluids and keep water in your car, like a big four gallon jug, incase you need to cool down your radiator. Hope it gets figured out! :)4. Says: that is a possibility, or you might have a loose or broken hose somewhere. if the there is a faint sweet scent to the smoke, it might be the antifreeze thats leaking and evaporating as it hits the hot engine.
