1. MR SMITH Says: my gas Gage stays of full when am driving but when the car is running and in park the Gage goes down what can be the cause of this?
2. a.t. Says: I just replaced the sending unit on my 2000 LeSabre a few weeks ago. My gauge hasn't worked in years. Sadly, you have to buy the entire fuel pump module in order to replace the sending unit. I've seen some sending units sell online for over $100, and they are rare to come by. You can get a genuine delco fuel pump module for around $300, I picked mine up from A1auto for $100. It is much more economical than trying to find, buy, and install a sending unit. You have to remove the module from the tank anyways, so you're better off replacing the whole thing. heres the link http://www.1aauto.com/1A/FuelSendingUnits/Buick/LeSabre/1AFPU00296/514843/2000.
So far the pump is performing beautifully. If you decide to change the pump yourself, you can do so through a rear access panel under the carpet in the trunk. It is a very easy repair, Just be prepared to fight with a rusty lock ring for a while. Penetrating oil will be your friend. You will also have to splice/solder in the new connector, also not a big deal. Good Luck.
3. Samuel Says: You need a new fuel sending unit. If you have any inquiries about parts for your car, go to www.mtl-autoparts.com and ask them the question directly, they even have an online catalog, parts are cheap, and shipping is free. They have an online chat LIVE, with technicians (not like the ones in India, they actually know what they're talking about). I had a problem with my BMW M3 2001 and I just called them up and they helped me find the right part the first time and referred me a mechanic. I was very happy with their service, even if they don't have the part or won't make any money off of you, they're always glad to help.
www.mtl-autoparts.com, the best parts people online.
4. Brandon Says: Bad sending unit probably. but try disconnecting the negative battery terminal to reset it first before buying new sending unit. It is probably corroded from what the gasoline is made of
5. Paul Says: Bad Gage and sending unit.
