Taking a trip across the country in my 10 year old car?

Says: Im moving from north east ohio to Oklahoma but im a little nervous about the 16hr car trip. i am young and not very experienced about roads and automobiles.i got new tires on my car, got my brakes and sparks replaced, oil changed, and engine checked. I have a bad fuel injector, but i can't afford to replace it and i have to leave the state asap. My mechanic said i had a good chance of making it.
My question is, i dont want my old rust bucket to overheat or break down, how many hours would any guys suggest i drive before giving it a break?2. Says: With a bad injector your car will use more gas therefore costing you money. I would get it fixed before leaving. If you do go before fixing it just don't push it real hard and keep a eye on the temp gauge. A 10 minute break every 3 hours or so will do wonders and maybe 30 minutes after 5 or 6 hours. Just don't get in a hurry when pulling over for gas, a pee break or lunch and you should be fine. 10 minutes every 45 min to 1 hour if the engine is working excessively hard like needing full throttle to go up slight hills.3. What kind of car are you driving?
Is it a four cylinder and if your injector completely fails you'll be running on three cylinders?
Where are your driving to; are there Mountains, steep grades involved?
Even if you cannot afford to replace the injector make sure you have enough funds on hand for a break down. Do you have AAA? This isn't really a question of giving your car a rest but will the vehicle make the entire 16hr trip?4. Says: Take a break every 3 hours.
