Wierd clunking noise in rear end of 1997 Buick Riviera?

(2011-12-04 15:20:35)
1. Dusty Says: On Monday of this week, we had the rear shocks replaced on our 1997 Buick Riviera. Between Thursday afternoon and Friday morning, the car developed a clunking noise when we go over bumps. Any mechanics on here have any ideas of what it may be? We emptied the trunk to be sure that our stuff wasn't the problem. I think it may be a lose bolt some place, but besides that, any other ideas? Thanks.
2. 88wp88 boogity boogity boogity Says: They may have disconnected an exhaust hanger bracket and forgot to reconnect it allowing the exhaust to move around
3. Jacob Cole biznatch Says: either it is the bracket or something inside the exhaust.. rev the engine and see if it gets louder when parked.. if so try to isolate the sound to which part of the exhaust it's coming from.. when you find it just cut it off.. sounds better anyway.
