How reliable is the engine in a 2005 ford explorer?

1. Jacob Shaw Says: I just got a 2005 Ford Explorer that my dad used to drive. It has a 4.0L V6 engine. He definitely drove it fairly rough a lot of the time, revving up over 4k rpm after each stop light and frequently accelerating aggressively up to 90+ mph on the freeway. It was always well maintained though, (oil changes, etc)
Right now it seems to be running fine except for what sounds like a loose pulley or something minor like that. I don't drive it rough at all, the worst i'll do to it is ease it up to 80 mph on a long stretch of highway. My question is: Was this kind of driving really bad for the car and can I expect any consequences from it?
Thanks
2. D Says: It's a reliable engine, but beating on any car will take it's toll no matter what it is.

3. Brendan Says: explorers are decent trucks. they are known to have problems with the acceleration sticking which is an issue. but overall it is pretty reliable since its a ford
