Would you buy a fleet vehicle?
(2011-12-12 15:30:12) 1. Says: would you buy a fleet vehicle? What about purchasing from an individual?2. Says: A service truck, yes...if it checked out mechanically. A retired rental car, no way! The rental companies are terrible at maintenance! They have been know to only add oil as needed, not change it...use the cheapest body shops and do minimal repairs unless through the factory warranty and the cars have had extreme use.3. Says: Fleet vehicles are generally a safe buy. They are maintained and documented very well, at least most of the time, depends on who your buying from. Buying from a large, reputable business is a pretty safe bet. If you are looking into buying a Crown Vic then check under the hood for an idle time counter, it monitors the hours the vehicle has been idling separate to the total mileage, less idle time is better. I'm not sure of any other models with this feature. Good Luck4. Says: Sure. Fleet cars are almost always maintained properly. Most are driven by sales reps or executives and have to be maintained or they get into trouble.Buying from individuals has its risks, but if the car checks out and the price is right, it can be a good deal.
