Does flooring the gas in an old car ruin the engine?

1. Steve Says: i have an 86 maxima and i floored the gas @ 50 mph for only a couple seconds. the car is 25 yrs old and has a 3.0 litre v6. Ive never floored the gas before and i was wondering weather it caused perminent engine damage

2. BitOHumor Says: Consider when they test these cars it is on a race track and it is pedal to the metal for a lot of the time.
Mileage is more concerning for the more miles like over 100K the more looser the engine parts fit.
But car still runs so your good.
