Do I need to have the transmission worked on if I got a new engine?

1. sk8erboy Says: My car it has a v8 with automatic transmission, well the car was a birthday gift (it doesn't run) but i went through it and the engine had a bad crank shaft, so I wound up getting a new engine for it. Will I need to do something to the transmission before I install the new engine or can I just drop the engine in.
2. Jak Says: You can just drop the engine in. You may want to drop the tranny pan and change the filter, make sure there is no metal or anything in the pan. You won't be able to tell if there is anything really wrong with the tranny until you are able to attempt to drive it.
3. bandit_60 Says: you still can use the same transmission as long as you put the same size engine in it. about all you have to do is block the transmission up to keep it from falling once the engine is pulled. before unbolting the transmission slide some concrete blocks under the transmission so it won,t drop when your pulling the engine. i say blocks because they will sit better then a jack.
4. ... Says: no if you are getting the same type of engine
