How to ADJUST SHIFT CABLE on TAURUS?
(2011-12-22 15:20:08) 1. Says: 1997 Ford Taurus 3.0 auto trans. column shifterI just need to adust the shift cable on my Taurus. It just can't reach into gear "1" using the column shift lever, but will reach all other gears fine. I can manually go into gear 1 through the engine compartment so I think it just needs an adjust.
Here is a diagram of what I think I need to do (bottom of page)

do I just loosen the "1" nut and adjust as necessary and tighten it back down when done?
the 7th line up from the last paragraph when it says "(D)" do they mean Overdrive or just Drive (I do have overdrive) though it seems I need to adjust nut all the way to the farthest rear of the shift cable bracket, which I think it would need to be in gear 1
well do I just loosen the nut and adjust accordingly or?
it appears the cable is not broke, or binding. could be a little stretched but that why I want to try and adjust it, looks like it would work.
the shifter cable tube does not appear broken.
no unnormal play/looseness for a column shifter2. Says: It is adjusted at the Transmission . There ia a gear shift indicator ther, but it is best adjusted by a mechanic.3. Says: Dont let your victories go to your head, or your failures go to your heart. Tag: How to ADJUST SHIFT CABLE on TAURUS?
