1. Scott Says: Its on a 2000 Cadillac Seville sls. is it expensive to fix?
2. Kenneth Says: It's really hard to tell. I've seen vehicles run 2 months and others run 5 years. I would recommend checking your oil often and if it starts burning over 1.5-2 quarts every week depending on your driving, I would take it in for a diagnosis which could run anywhere between $100-$250 depending on the shop. You can use www.repairpal.com to give you an idea what maintnance/repairs might cost for your vehicle.
3. Jay2 Says: Yes, we haven't got a clue since we don't know how many miles are on the engine and if it has been properly maintained including regular oil changes. If it's burning oil as a result of wear to piston rings, you're looking at an engine rebuild that will cost more than the car is worth. Sometimes oil use is a result of bad valve oil seals that can be replaced for a few hundred dollars - - - but it would be unusual for a 2000 car to need seals unless it was badly overheated at some point.

Are you sure it is burning oil, and not leaking? If it produces blue smoke on start-up that dissipates after a while, could be valve seals. If there's blue smoke all the time, probably rings.
4. Michael S Says: Probably 2 years, 5 months 27 days three hours and 21 minutes.
Do you think anyone here is a mind reader?
5. Don Says: 2,3 years
