Why did I get a SMOG I instead of II in Sacramento county?
(2011-12-29 15:20:23) 1. Says: For the last 15 years in Sacramento county I've always been required to get a SMOG II on the dyno at 15 and 25 mph. I just took my wife's 06 Saturn Vue FWD for its first SMOG test and they did the old idle and fast idle test. The tech didn't know why; just said that is what the state computer said to do is that normal? (BTW it wasnt any cheaper wo the dyno :( ).2. Says: Yes, the EFN (engine family number) calls for the TSI (two speed idle) test under C.A.R.B. guidelines for what reason I don't know (unless he entered the wrong VIN #) this should get the ASM 15/25 test (i would think)3. Says: Some Saturn Vue are AWD and they can't be on the roller.Traction control will kick in.
Edit: Oops meant AWD system will kick in and run thru the shop. Tag: Why did I get a SMOG I instead of II in Sacramento county?
