Citroen Xsara Picasso Over Revving?

Its started to over rev at lights, stationary etc....today is was going mad like i had my foot flat down!!!
I was going to replace the idle control value and throttle body/position sensor before bothering with anything else......
would anybody else agree??

an idle control valve failure wouldn't normally rev up that high.

My guess is that it's definitely a fault on the inlet side,mechanically, since an electrical fault would throw up a code.

3. Account Closed Says: Personally I'd get a garage to check the diagnostics first. Otherwise you could end up replacing expensive parts and not actually solving the problem.

It could just turn out to be a tuning issue too.
