Strange electrical problem with 99 ford windstar van?
(2012-01-03 15:20:04) 1. Says: This my work van i use so it's kinda necessary to get this goof thing fixed !ONE rear turn signal bulb all of sudden on 12/30 just stays on lit all the time !
I first took off the lens tapped the socket it went out ! BUT then would not come back on !
after repacing bulb checking wires for shorts or wear it now comes on as soon as i open any door
stays on for about 30 mins and goes off !
IS there some type of fuse or something that is running hot to that one turn signal bulb ?
I figure it has to be the interior lights now because it comes on as soon as i open any door !
I tried everything even disconnecting battery touching both terminals together still it's staying on solid !
all other turn siganals work fine left reaer and both rt n left front so that eliminates the turn signal switch ! Tried seraching online for answer but they want up to 29$ for an answer !2. Says: And I'll bet that after you pay the $29 this would still not fix the vehicle! This IS a strange condition but, not an uncommon one though! You should check fuse # 16 in the IP (instrument panel) fuse block. If the fuse is intact then move on to the REM, If you have a ohm meter (and are comfortable with electrical testing) Check grounds for the REM (Rear Electronic Module) first. Access the REM in the RR corner of the cargo area. At connector 342 (26-terminal connector) check pins 11, 12, 25 and 26 (BLACK wires) for good grounds.
NOTE: A common problem here is the vehicles jack (if not properly secured) the jack handle will rub through the REM wiring and cause this type of problem.
If no problem is found, it will be necessary to replace the REM (this module must be configured to the vehicles VIN #)
NOTE: The REM has control over each bulb separately and can illuminate each one to it's own accord!
ADDED: The bulbs are ALWAYS HOT on this vehicle! The REM provides the ground to the proper bulb!3. Says: thats what it was MasTec i removed jack panel removed jack the bul;b went out !
so simply stupid ! YOU just saved me hours of time from checing all the wiring ! ONE thing tho the bulb out indicator light stays on the dash ! shoould i disconnect battery to rest it or just let it be ? 4. Says: I heard that you can get a free computer check from Auto Zone.
