1. specialed1012003 Says: Well, you need to ask yourself whether your car starts at the first crank or if the turning over sounds weak. most likely you will answer negatively. if this is the case, check yourself or have someone check if your alternator still has the belt attached to the pulley. if it's on then check if your alternator is charging the battery. this can be accomplished by means of a multimeter or by going to an auto parts store (Auto Zone will do it for FREE ) or auto shop to have them check the battery charge and alternator. the reason your car is dying is because it needs battery power to keep it running and as for the oil light,it might have to do with the electrical system being affected. but to play it safe, don't forget to check the oil level of your engine. Later!
2. astro Says: It sounds like your alternator may be dying, causing the battery to drain, then if you lose all battery power the engine will stall. The oil light could just be the loss in oil pressure as the engine dies. Have it checked to be safe. Most parts stores will do free tests on alternators and batteries - they want to sell you the new one if yours has failed. Good luck.
3. Robyn Says: Need more info.
Battery and oil lights come on when the engine is not running and ignition(key) is turned to the run(on) position.

Does it die while going down the road, or while sitting at traffic light? Does it start back up after it dies?
4. oTTo Says: It's either an oil leak with battery cable problem or the alternator.
5. Survivalist Says: Hi,
Seems like your battery or alternator went bad.
