How Do You Clean Wet Corrosion from a Car Battery, and How Ho You Charge the Battery?

1. Amanda Says: The battery in our Mazda MPV needs to be charged before it goes dead, but one side has corrosion on it that's still wet and I have no clue how to safely clean it. I do have plenty of WD-40 if that's all that's needed, and a manual/automatic battery charger that I forgot how to use, such as which clip goes on which side. Could you please give me some advice? I appreciate your answers!

2. alanjay Says: You can take your vehicle to your local Auto-zone, Checkers, etc. and have them run a check on your alternator, free of charge, to ensure the alternator is not overcharging the battery. While you're there they will also charge your battery at no charge. As far as cleaning the battery terminals, either Coca-Cola or baking soda will do the trick.

and to charge it, its common sense, you wanna charge the battery on the lowest setting for a few hours. and red goes to positive and black goes to negative.

4. rhymes with orange Says: I would take it to your mechanic ASAP. If your battery is wet, your alternator could be over charging it. It will ruin a new battery if you just change that. Pour baking soda on any kind of battery acid spill
