1. Yasmin Says: Hello, I'm Yasmin and I'm in the process of buying my first car. I really don't know anything about cars and I don't want to make a mistake and buy a car that breaks down on me. So if you have any advice other than how much mileage a car should have in my price range, it would be appreciated. Thank you.
2. NOpublican's in 2012 Says: You say you do not know anything about cars, get someone who knows to go with you. You can get a decent car for 3300. When you think you have made your choice spend 75-100 and take it to a mechanic to check it out . If you go to look at a car and its dirty and has trash in it , walk away. Ask what repairs they have done in the last year , Do they have receipts? If you buy from a dealer insist on getting the previous owners phone number ,call them and ask about the car.
3. Never Says: Condition is FAR more important than mileage on older and/or lower priced cars.

Pay attention to the car and its condition and your mechanics evaluation far more than the mileage.

Highway miles are easy on a car. City miles & stop & go driving are not.

You'll probably want to avoid most dealers because they are going to want too much profit. (Except maybe small, one man operations)
4. Anthony D Says: If you go on Craigslist.org, you can buy a great car at a good price from an individual seller!
5. Jacque C Says: buy one from an elderly person. they are more likely to maintain their cars properly.
