Passenger side wheel makes knocking noise?
(2012-01-19 15:20:05) 1. Says: I have a 2000 grand prix and the passenger side wheel makes a knocking or wobbly noise when driving. When we turn even just slightly it will stop. We replaced the hub assembly thinking it may be bad but that didn't work. My husband thinks the sway bar but could it be the sway bar link, or does it sound like something completely different?2. Says: Ck the tie-rods for play too. Also ck with the car off the ground, the lower c/arm bushings. The round ones will collapse and the arm will end up sitting on the cradle creating a noise. Just ck to see if there is a gap between the cradle and the bottom of the arm. They are located on the back of the front lower c/arms. Very common on those models. Good luck.3. Says: Doubt it is the sway bar, because that usually only makes noise on bumps.CV joints usually make more noise on tight slow turns, not less. They are usually quiet straight ahead.
The hub would have been my guess as well, as wheel bearings can make noise on straights that goes away on turns.
If you feel vibration throught the steering wheel on bumps, my next guess would be a tie rod end.
Move the steering wheel back and forth about 2", and watch the tie rods from the ground looking up. If the ends are bad, you will see the loss of motion.4. Says: Im not familiar with this car at all but i do beleive old mate up top is on the money. Check ya tie rod ends and the control arm bushes. Tag: Passenger side wheel makes knocking noise?
