If my Jeep is totaled can I take my head unit out?
(2012-01-22 15:20:23) 1. Says: Hi, so last week our Jeep was totaled and the insurance adjustor gave us a check of how much the car is worth on friday... Anyways I have my Sony Head Unit in there that I bought about 4 years ago for 200 or so. Now I know they only cost like 30 bucks used today but can I still take it out of my Jeep? Or is it theres now since it was added towards the value of the car.2. Says: If they added the price of the unit to the value of the car what would make you think you could take it? When they tell you they are going to add something to the value of the car that means they are paying you for it and taking it after that would be considered stealing. When the insurance company made the decision to total your car they made a list of all the options it has and also any salvageable parts. They then sent the list to several salvage yards and got bids for your car to recoup some of the loss they incurred while paying you. The salvage yard that bought your car will expect everything listed to be included with the car.3. Says: That is the sort of thing you negotiate with the insurance adjuster when they are out to look at the car. Sometimes with little things like that they dont care and will just tell you to take it. You can ask if you can buy the car back from them and then you can scrap it or sell it off yourself. You can also ask who they sold it to. Often times the junkyards or who ever bought it will be happy to sell you stuff off it before they take it.4. Says: The Jeep and everything in it is there's so the answer is no.5. Says: Take it out.
And why wouldn't you just call the adjuster and get the correct answer?6. Says: take it before it is crushed Tag: If my Jeep is totaled can I take my head unit out?
