Can you paint an H pipe?

Betta Ball Fish Tanks Says: I have a 2004 mustang GT. I have an off road H pipe I am going to install can I put some kind of paint on it to protect it from everything? I am thinking maybe header paint or similar stuff.

Lance Vandyk Says: Yes you can if use high temp engine enamel (paint for engine blocks) whatever you use needs to be high temp, your very best bet for protection is to gave it powder coated. Generally they come with some sort of protection from rust/corrosion. They only start to rust if they've been damaged, from a speed bump etc. Hope this was helpful

bandit_60 Says: you can but the pipe has to be clean from any rust and dirt. you will need a very high temperature spray paint or it will burn off.
