Hi, I'm thinking about buying a 00 Ford Focus estate, I'm wondering are they a good car?

1. riggedtofish Says: Or what might be a better choice?
2. Vipassana Says: It depends on what shape that specific car is in.

The car is 10 years old. No two 2000 Ford Focus's will be in the same condition.

So it's pointless to ask if all of them are good cars, since they'll all be in different shape.

A good choice of a car, would be whatever car you inspect, have a mechanic inspect, run a vehicle history on, and decide is a good purchase.

Which could be any make or model, just depends on what you find.
3. knownout Says: I have an 03 estate , 1600 and found it great .. best car I ever had , had it since new and done about 50000 with no problems , different levels of finish .. mine is a zetec with aircon .
4. Timbo is here Says: Generally a good car but at 10 years old it will be as old as Ford intended it to ever get.
Will be a bit of a lottery as you could get a good one, a bad one or anywhere between.
Older estates do tend to have been used as work horses at some point so can tend to have had a hard life and may have been used to tow stuff.
5. Hairy Jim Says: I'm on my 2nd Focus. As a base car, they were made well, straight out of the box. They are prone to corrosion on the tailgate around the handle, and the only real problem mechanically/electrically is the speedo failing, which could be one of a few things. (Speed sensor/ECU/Instrument cluster) Watch for poor maintenance, which will show as other faults, and also NO maintenance. Alloys kerb and damage easily, but that's any car really. They're good cars. The estate particularly. mine was a 2000/X Ghia petrol. I only replaced it because my current 2006 Ghia Hatch has leather/cruise/ parking sensors etc. I like toys!
