Gurgling/popping from exhaust when I let off the gas?
(2012-02-01 15:20:08) 1. Says: Car: 2002 Saturn L200169k on body, 69k on engine.
Only modification was to the intake removing the tube from the front of the car to the airbox.
I didn't notice it until one day I parked and reved it up a bit to show off and when the rpms came down I could hear a gurgling popping.
I know its nothing to be very worried about as many modified cars have that sound only louder. My question is why is my virtually stock car making the noise. This question is more from curiosity than anything.2. Says: going by the link,
that can be anything from a collapsed baffle in the muff, hole in the exhaust, to a plug miss fire(for what ever reason).
but since you did a mod, that's what i'd look at. idle air and intake temp sensors are kinda touchy.
i'd also look around there for a possible vacuum leak. if there is a vacuum leak, likely the computer is covering most of that up by pulling back the timing. so you don't hear pinging. but that should not be ignored.
i would not think it's a bad sensor. but it's possible. likely things are just out of a given sensors parameters.
don't know much bout saturns. but on some diagnostic systems, not all codes stored prompt a MIL/CEL. so you might pull 'em just to see. you know most auto parts store will do it for free if they have the time.
another thought, is most computers will gather a new base line once reset. don't know the proper way on these. efi fuse or pos bat terminal disconnection. check your manual.3. Says: You hae a gizmo called the IDLE AIR CONTROl valve that FINE tunes your FUEL/AIR ratio. YOURS is DIRTY and SO is your THROTTLE BODY! Take $20 to ANY quicky lube and have them CLEAN your T. body and IAC vavle to SHOWROOM clean! KEEP them that way to keep your fuel mixture as PERFECT as possible. Install a set of BOSCH Fusion or BOSCH iridiuim plugs and get the factory JUNK plugs out of there. They WASTE gas and you LOSE power. Once the BOSCH plugs are installed, the engine will FEEL turbo charged!!!! GOOD LUCK!!!! STOP using CHEAP wax based oil changes that CLOG up your engine sensors!!! GOODLUCK!!4. Says: Definitely sounds like you have some bad engine sensors. It is going to screw up the computer's ability to give the right fuel air mixture, that typically when these problems happen.
Also the Cold air intake modification can be hard on Mass air flow sensors.5. Says: a car shop might give you a free answer to this Tag: Gurgling/popping from exhaust when I let off the gas?
