Service Engine Light on?
(2012-02-01 15:20:08) 1. Says: Have a 2007 Nissan Maxima Tried to hook up a GPS Direct to the fuse box. but it didnt work. after my Service Engine light came on. Its probably nothing but if i take it to a dealer i know they will find a $300.00 + problem. Anyone know how to shut the light off by resetting something. ???? Thanks for your help.2. If it's the Check Engine light, get it checked and most parts stores usually for free.
If it's Service Engine Soon, it means the mileage indicates you should do the recommended maintenance required at that mileage.3. Says: huh? OK not quite sure what you are asking, but if the "check engine light" comes on it is cause there is a problem with the car. Basically there is an alarm tripped by the problem and until you fix it it is going to continue to stay on. If it fixes itself or the problem is no longer there, the computer will eventually refresh and the light will go off. You can force the car to refresh by disconnecting the battery, this may not work on the newest car though and may trip a factory radio and lock it.
You can go down to various autoparts stores and ask to borrow their computer and clear all codes. They can also read the codes that are in your cars computer.
Did this problem start when you were trying to hook up the gps directly to the fuse box? If so then it probably was caused by this action. Look at all your fuses and make sure none are broken.4. RUn SEA FOAM through your PCV and INTAKE VACUUM to remove SLUDGE from your piston rings and piston tops. GOOD LUCK!!! Your ENGINE light will go OFF by itself!!! You MIGHT have another problem, but HERE is where to start off. $20 can SAVE your expensive O2's and your CONVERTER, too!!5.
