(2012-02-01 15:20:17) 1. Says: i am interested in buying a car but the guys says that "liquid drips onto the head valves and blue smoke comes out....what exactly is this and should i be worried?2. Says: Blue smoke coming out of the tail pipe indicates that oil is getting into the combustion somehow. So the car has an oil leak but the problem can vary in severity. If you feel pretty set on buying the car ask the seller if you can bring it to a mechanic, before you commit, to check out the car. Tell the mechanic that you suspect oil is being burned and to give you an estimate on the cost of repair. You may be able to convince the seller to come down in price if the repair is pricey.3. Says: That sounds like valve seals, which can be done not too expensively, but if there are a lot of miles, the engine is probably burning oil all over, rings, as well as seals. You could conservatively figure on a replacement engine, probably less. Why even look at it unless it is so cheap?4. Says: do not buy the car.the engine is bad and in simple terms, it means that engine oil is leaking out of the engine onto the hot exhaust... im sure you can picture the next step in this process...5. Says: Maybe he means the valve stem seals? They drip into the cylnders and make the engine smoke. It needs at least 2hrs and 100 bucks in parts. It could be as high as ten hours on some cars.
