Your opinion please about buying this vehicle.?

(2012-02-01 15:30:04) 1. Gilbert. Says: A went to this dealer to ask for this Ford Taurus 1996 3.0 v6,111658 miles, here is the deal:
the dealer is asking for $800 down,$220 monthly,the price of the car is $2995.but if i want to buy it straight cash it would be $1200 buck but they wouldn't fix anything.
The guy told me that has a little sluggish that it may be the catalytic converter and they can fix it if i put the $800 down.If i pay cash today i have to fix anything wrong with the car.

I do have a 1996 ford taurus 3.0 right now, I know they can be good cars and last a long time mine is over 300.000 miles that's why i am interested in this taurus that i saw today.

I know it is up to me to buy it or not,but i would like to hear some opinions.
I don't think a catalytic converter is a big deal.

Agrr Says: Well if you have the money to actually afford $1200 straight go out and buy a used car from a person. Pick a car that isnt worth alot to begin with ie: Crown Vic, Dodge Stratus, Geo Metro. The car will probably be in good shape for that much. That Ford Taurus wont be good. Before you buy it, regardless of what deal you pursue, have another mechanic take a look at it.

Here's another thing. If they are willing to take $1700 off of the ticket price to sell it up front (and I'm sure "as is") that means there are some serious problems with the vehicle. Tag: Your opinion please about buying this vehicle.?
