How to protect your car bumper from love bug acid?

1. horvys Says: Hello I just paid $450 to have my bumper painted Bought the car with bug paint damage . Live in Florida and the so called love bugs ruin your paint . Is ther a product to apply to your bumper to keep the acid from harming your paint. I have 2 coats of high grade wax on it now. Any ideas. I wash my car on a regular bsis its never dirty.

2. g Says: This might sound strange, but I have a friend who lives in Florida and he puts olive oil on his bumper during the two love bug seasons. Says it works like a charm!

3. Laura Says: You could wax it with real carnuba wax a couple of times. The love bug bodily fluids are acidic and you should wash them off after each trip and try not to travel too much during the two times a year that they swarm. We've got them here in Louisiana too, so I know what you're talking about.
