My Check Engine Light Off Because of New Tires?

(2012-02-02 15:20:09)
1. classyshonna Says: After having my car for about four months, I got a flat. My husband had it plugged by an inexperienced tech and he broke my tire pressure sensor thingy. Since then my (!) signal had been on. About a month later the check engine light would go off and on and sometimes my car would jerk during acceleration. About two months ago my car started to not allow me to accelerate past 60mph on the freeway. If i tried then it would jerk.
Anyway I just got four new tires and repaired the broken sensors and my check engine and tire pressure lights went off and my car has stopped jerking. Could all of that been because of having bad tires? If not then what was the issue? and why is my PT Cruiser so loud when I drive on the freeway, even after tire replacement.? Thank you.
2. Country Boy Says: Check engine light being on has no electrical or mechanical connection with the tire-monitor warning light.

The first thing i would do is to change the fuel filter then have an experienced private mechanic check the fuel pressure at the fuel rail under the hood.

Wish you would have written the year and model of the PT Cruiser. If the fuel pump pressure checks out OK, the next things to check is the ignition coil, ignition wires and spark plugs. Ignition coil overheating happen because of spark plug gaps being burned too wide and or ignition wires that have too much electrical resistance because of age, miles and heat.
3. Mark F Says: 1. The "tire pressure sensor thingy" has its own warning light.

2. Legally the shop that broke your sensor is obligated to replace it before they can release the vehicle back to you. They quite literally violated federal law by giving you the keys back without repairing or replacing the damaged TPMS sensor.

3. The Check Engine Light has nothing to do with the TPMS system. Any fault there was completely seperate from your tire sensor issues.
4. diddy Says: There is no correlation with the tire monitor system and your check engine light.... Its pure coincidence if its off now...... As far as the noise, there are tires that are qui ter than others.... Did u buy snow tires?
5. Bandit-05 Says: No. Tires have nothing to do with the Check Engine Light.
