How do you clay bar a cars surface?

I'm an 18 year old kid and I like driving a showroom looking truck to work/community college. So can anyone tell me how to do it? Spray the area with supplied clay bar lubricant, detailing spray works too. Rub with clay, linear strokes in direction of airflow. - back and forth. Inspect clay surface, once you see some contamination fold it over into the clay. Inspect with your fingertips, once the area is glass smooth, move to next area.
