How can I not get car sick on a 6 hour journey?
(2012-02-02 15:25:05) 1. Says: In a couple weeks I am going on a very long car journey and it's going to be like 5-6 hours! I get car sick when it's reached like an hour so how am I going to not get sick for that long?!:(them travel tablets don't work for me, don't suggest any other tablets or anything cos im only 13 & i dont want them. I am going to be sitting in the front passenger seat but is there any other way i could avoid travel sickness? Thankyou so much!2. Says: Try sitting in a different seat if that is possible ,don't have the temperature too hot.Try and get the driver to drive at a sensible speed to reduce the movement of the car.Sleeping is the best option and putting the seat back so you can relax a bit better is OK .Don't recline the seat fully because their is a danger of sliding under the seat belt in a crash but enough so you can rest your head on the headrest without it dropping forwards when you fall asleep. Pressure point wrist bands which are based on Chinese acupuncture methods but use pressure rather than needles work for some people. Distraction is another method and reading a book or playing a game electronic or normal like cards or eye spy .Karaoke to a CD, or if you have one, a portable DVD player can be another distraction. If you are looking out of the window don't concentrate on near objects it can disorientate but instead focus on middle or long distance objects this means looking ahead instead of sideways..If all this fails catch a train and meet them at the destination.3. Says: You get sick if your balance organs (in your ears) tell your brain one thing and your eyes say something else.
Sit in the front seat and do not do anything which means you concentrate on anything in the car - no reading for example. Look outside the car and enjoy the scenery. If this does not work then little if anything will.4. Says: I get the same way. Pretzles help, im not sure why, just the saltyness i guess. another thing that helps is chewing gum, again i have no clue why. These two tricks helped me on a 24 hour drive to Florida. Hope these help and enjoy ur trip. And whatever you do, do not try reading a book while in the car, this is a good trigger to car sickness.5. Says: Take vitamins. Drink a lot of mineral water. Then you will need a lot of rest stops!
Walk at the rest stops, don't just sit. Exercise beforehand and take a small grip exerciser. Keep looking at the horizon. Reading too much in a car gets me a little carsick.
My daddy was from KS; but he was in USN 20 years and only got seasick, once. Working on small boat in rough sea, it smelled of gas and he'd get his eyes off horizon when working, so he'd get disoriented.6. Says: A friend of mine used to get car sick, so she would stay up practically all night the day before, and snore away the whole journey! Give that a go?7. Says: Listen to music through earphones, it blocks out the noise of the car and relaxes you. :)8. Says: Big fry up before you leave9. Says: 1 drink water,,,sit in front,,listen to calming music..talk yourself into being ok [self hypnosis] Tag: How can I not get car sick on a 6 hour journey?
