Why don't people take the bus instead of driving?
(2012-02-02 15:25:06) 1. Says: I'm a student and I don't have a car. My parents get mad if I ask them to drive me anywhere, so I walk and take the city bus. it's 3 dollars per ride, and it's sort of interesting to watch all the different people come on. Why do people drive to the store, when it's literally 5 minutes away and they could just walk there and save on gas, and pollution. I seriously don't get it. For long distances, you can transfer buses or take the go train.2. Says: The two main places I drive to are work and to school at night. Both of those drives I have my children with me who need to be dropped at daycare. If I were to take a bus to every single place I need to go just to get where I'm going, it would take me hours. Hopping in my car and driving directly with my children to where I need to go takes 30 minutes for 3 stops. You tell me why I don't take the bus, lol.3. Says: I Do. For me. it's 50 cents each way. With transfers, I can take four busses! Luckily, we have a good bus system here, mostly, unlike my home town. (There, they cancelled service between counties! ) I also walk the dog to the store, and ride a bike when waiting for the the bus would be inconvenient. The only time I miss my car (like Now!) is when I want to go someplace off bus routes, like the fairgrounds, Tombstone, the Dutchman Mine, or take my dog with me. Otherwise, there is a neat shuttle to the Indian casinos!4. Says: I've done just that for the last three years, the buses here in Birmingham (UK) are good. However, despite the fact that I can get a bus I ended up never going anywhere except to the shops because it's just too much trouble. I recently sorted out a car and now my life is much better with the new freedom that I have. As for going to the local shops, I still walk or ride my bike there unless I intend to buy a lot of heavy items. Having a car is much better when you've got kids.5. Says: A car is like an extension of our house. We feel safe in our houses. Therefore, I think we tend to feel more safe in our own car than on a bus or walking. But I agree with you, why drive around the corner when you can walk.6. Says: of course I can walk to the store, it's the carrying around all those bags of groceries while I do other errands that presents a problem
(not to mention that the store is more than a 5 minute walk)7. Says: In my area it costs two people around £6 and 2 hours to take a journey that if completed by car would take 20 minutes and cost less than £3 and that includes tax insurance etc.8. Says: People are lazy. It's plain and simple, they'd rather spend more money so they don't have to get off there behinds and walk.9. Says: it is always economical to travel by bus.10. Says: 1. I don't have to deal with the idiot bus driver who hate's thier job and won't smile.
2. I don't have to be quiet. I can yell, sing, blare my terrible music.
3. I don't have to wait 20 minutes in the blistering heat/blistering cold for a mode of transportation that stops for 20 second's every 75 yards to reach my destination in double the time it would take if I were to drive there.
4. I don't have to tolerate 400 pound people who take up 2 seat's forcing me to sit beside drunks, "gangsta's" blaring lil' wayne through headphones that are not even on thier head(around thier neck), mother's on thier cell phone loudly talking about how thier "baby daddy" is a deadbeat and how all men are scum whilst their baby(taking up 3 passenger's room of space at least) is screaming thier head off because it keeps throwing it's bottle or rattle at my legs.
5. I don't have to pray to actually get a seat in my car, and furthermore I don't have to pray that my seat will not have: Urine, coke, food leftover's, sauce, vomit or any other bodily fluid on it and that when I sit down, the "reading material around me will not be random horny idiot's phone number's, a heart symbol with "K+A" in it(it's always K and A who are together...who are they!?!?), "Jeff was here"-that crossed out and under wrote "Jeff IS GAY" and college anti-rape ad's above the window"
6. People don't ask me for change in my car.
7. People don't ask me for smokes in my car.
8. I don't anymore but when I did, I could smoke in my car.
9. I can use profanity and say whatever I want openly with the passengers in my car.
10. My car doesn't stop running after 1:00 AM.
This is why I drive and this is why I enjoy driving and wasting gas and paying rediculous insurance rates to drive, myself. Plus I'm a family man, so a car is kind of essential.... Tag: Why don't people take the bus instead of driving?
