What's a good first car?
(2012-02-02 15:25:09) 1. Says: My dad hyundais aren't good cause they are made out of cheap material. I like Jeeps and small cars :o need to overcome my fear of driving lol2. Says: a honda accord is a good bet! I have a 1992 honda accord with 317000 miles and its still running strong with 32mpg. I also have a 1991 honda accord that was in a crash and totaled a 2010 the damage to my car was crushed bumper reinforcement and broken head light 60 dollars to repair3. Says: I would stay away from those Salvage yard Supras for 2 reasons. 1 it will be very hard to get insurance on it if it has a "salvage title" and even with a clean title, a young driver in a high HP RWD sports car is going to be expensive to insure anyways. 2 a RWD car with 575HP is just too much power for a novice driver. you probably dont want to hear that, I know I sure didn't when i was a younger driver, but it is the truth. Even if you are a great driver, having that type of power at your disposal just increases the chances of an accident.Another reason not to get the Supras is maintenance. If you are not planning on doing the majority of the maintenance and repairs yourself I'd stay away from them. Any highly modified engine is more apt to have issues routinely and the cost adds up quickly bringing it to a mechanic that knows how to properly work on them.
I would also not suggest the S10, it is just not a well made vehicle. Instead I would suggest a Toyota Tacoma from that same year range if you are dead set on getting a truck. But personally unless you absolutely need a truck, I'd stick with a car.
tyagi4. Says: Hyundais are supposed to be good cars? They are kind of expensive too, i think... Driving isn't scary! It may seem like it is especially with a lot of traffic, but if you start off in parking lots and work up to bigger roads, it seems much better. I have a Subaru WRX, its a good car, but the insurance is high and it was an expensive car. I would suggest a used car that runs and is under 10,000$ that does not require too much maintenance5. Says: @running2, you could also check into vehicles such as the Ford Fusion, Ford Focus, Chevrolet Malibu, Chevrolet Cobalt, Buick Regal, Pontiac Grand Prix or the Pontiac Grand Am. These are all good vehicles. My favorite is the Chevrolet Malibu. Rides great, the stereo sounds amazing.
Be sure to test the vehicles that you are interested in.
Michelle, GM Customer Service6. Says: Hondas are good cars due to their milage and they're good on gas. Except they are kind of small, but pretty average, I'd say.
Jeep cherokees are good cars too and a good size to be safe in.7. Says: Most Hondas from 1993-2002 are good starter cars, I have I 95 integra and it's amazing takes me everywhere it's fun good looking. And your driving fear it goes away after about amontillado on the road :) Tag: What's a good first car?
