Dodge charger 70 engine switch?
(2012-02-03 15:15:12) 1. Says: its a dodge charger with a 440.. should i switch the engine to a 2003 viper engine? i havent done anything else to it.. but i wanna make it to a faster car.. proably a 4.0 sec car.2. Says: The Viper engine will get you 0-60 in four seconds but for a couple of thousand dollars you can go 0-60 with the engine you have.If you want to do a quarter mile in four seconds you need a long wheel base rail or a "funny car" burning nitromethane and putting about 7,000 horsepower to the asphalt.
If your Charger is an original "U" code car it is more valuable restored than modified.3. Says: The Viper engine (and transmission?) is longer than the 440 and fiercely expensive. You'll need to cut the body to get the engine in the engine bay.
It would be a lot less trouble to buy a crate 426 Hemi and a B&M Torqueflite with a Megashifter. There are a lot of performance options for the Hemi that can increase the power output. Then you need to get all this power on the ground with a limited slip differential and some decent tires.
You have unlimited funding, of course?4. Says: Even a "pro stock" Cuda could only cut a 10.76 So I am not sure your expectations are reasonable.

Says: just switching to a viper engine will not get you to a 4 sec car7. Says: find a big hill drive down it pedal to the metal that'll doo it.8. Says: Not without a big lot of money.9.
