Help!!whats that belt called for a ford explorer?

Linda Ronski Says: i got a 1996 ford explorer 4x4 with the 6v motor.. that front pull thing that puts tension on the big belt stopped spinning.. now when i start it up i smell burning belt . so i need to replace that pull thing and belt. . my question is. what are them to parts call? the little tension pull thing and the belt it self.. whats the part called so i know what to say in the parts place with out looking like an idiot

Andy Pandy Says: fan belt or alternator belt take it to garage b 4 u trash the engine for over heating and get a flat battery so it wont start, or have no lights when it gets dark do it asap or your gonna be walking or pushing it.
