1995 oldsmobile aurora misfiring and losing gas mileage?
(2012-02-03 15:20:08) 1. Says: My dad drives a 1995 Oldsmobile Aurora. His car is a V8 engine and it burning lots of gas what can he do to his car to get more gas mileage? He also have a service engine light on in his car is misfiring every time he pulls off from a stop sign, driveway, red light, and when he get on and off and exit. When it misfire it doesn't seem like it don't wanna go. Can someone please tell me about what's wrong with his gas mileage and his car misfiring like it want to shut down?2. That's to ensure the mechanic knows what her or he is doing.Your dads car has engine performance problems, that can only be determined by doing an engine diagnostic. And after the first repair is done, there could be more underlying problems that didn't get seen because of the main problem. So if your shops says he has to pay for another diag, than he has to pay for another diag or not have his engine run properly.4. Says: it could be a coil pack, a very common thing. get the light checked out and if it says something like cylinder # whatever the number is misfire, than figure out what cylinders are what and switch the one that it says is misfiring and switch it with one that is fine and then drive around till the light comes back one and read the code again. if it says the misfire moved to the cylinder you switched it to than you know its the coil pack5. Says: the misfire alone can waste gas. it might need new plugs, plug wires and it probably has a coil pack instead of a distributor so the coil pack might be bad. also check the air filter and the air in the tires. running it with low tires and a dirty air filter can waste gas.
