Whats a good all around car?
(2012-02-03 15:30:05) 1. Says: I'm going to start look at cars here in the next year or so. NOT NEW, USED. I would like something thats different, fun to drive, and gets good gas milage. Being able to take it off road would be a big plus too. I've narrowed it down to 3 cars, I'm not asking you to choose one of them, but if you know of another, could you tell me? :)1. Jeep Cherokee XJ 4.0 (1987-2001)
2. Isuzu Rodeo 3.5 (1993-1996)
3. Volvo 240 2.3 (1985-1993)
Thanks!2. Says: The Volvo is the only one you picked that gets good mileage and is reliable. The jeep 4.0 in nearly unburstable and it has a solid trans, but it gets about 17 mpg freeway. The Isuzu is crap all around. I have seen many of them on fire on the side of the freeway.
If you want my recommendation, go with an AWD Subaru legacy with the EJ22 (2.2 liter). They made them from 1990 to 99 or so. I loved mine, it offroaded like a crazed woodchuck and was incredibly durable. I have seen many with over 350,000 miles that still ran great. Avoid the 2.5 though, they tend to blow head gaskets.3. Says: I would take a look at some Subaru's if I were you. Some of them get really good gas milage and since you like off road all Subaru's are all wheel drive so that is a great plus. Honda or even Kia might also have some good cars if you are more focused on gas milage instead of off road.4. Says: Volvo 240 2.3 (1985-1993)
