Chevy 327 chevy 350? performance ?
(2012-02-04 15:15:04) 1. Says: Which is overall a better performer2. Says: Hmm, depends on what you are looking for. I have had 20 or so 327s, and a few more than that 350s.Power wise they are pretty close, the 327s rev a bit faster, run a bit smoother by nature
The biggest difference i know of is gas mileage, a 327 will get 20mpg, a 350 lucky to get 13. The very early 350 2 barrels werent bad on gas, but after 1971, it sucked!
I buy every 327 I find, as far as I'm concerned, it was the best of the best Chevy EVER made3. Says: Well, sadly, physics are not that simple, its a whole science that can not be defined as more CC = more power, is just not that simple. Horsepower is only a formula you know, a smaller stroke let you revup faster and higher, that will take your to more horsepower.
You can use a car performance simulator to virtually test this both engines with different gear ratios to see how you can easily beat the other under some circumstances, give a try at http://www.nxgtrsim.com4. Says: The 350 of course. It is just a 327 with more displacement due to a longer stroke. If some idiot tries to tell you a 327 will make more power because it has a shorter stroke he is nuts. A 302 has an even shorter stroke. And by their reasoning, an engine with no stroke and therefore no displacement would be the most powerful of all. Silly.5. Says: Go with the 350.
