Mitsubishi eclipse 98 shakes while at stop?

1. Bernardo Says: I recently bought a Mitsubishi eclipse 98, I smoged it 3 days ago and everything is fine. But when I start the engine it shakes the inside of the vehicle but it stops when I reach past the 5mph. Is there something I should be worried about? The car has 49k miles.
2. John Says: This could be quite a few things. Since it's only happening at idle speeds, you should start my cleaning up your throttle body and idle air control valve. Believe it or not, a dirty throttle body can cause abnormal vibration at idle.

If that doesn't solve the problem, one of the motor mounts may be cracked, which is quite common on a car that old, since the inserts are rubber.

Keep in mind though (if you just bought the car), that 4 cylinders tend to vibrate and make a lot of noise compared to V6 and V8 engines, because they're fairly unstable engines.
3. Mark Says: Maybe you need to adjust your timing belt. As well as get a tune up. My nissan maxima had that issue when it would start and then it'd shut itself off.
