Adjusting lifters (Bucket and Shim)?

1. Cole Cooper Says: I'm not getting what it's saying in the manual. I need pointers... .And what is the lifter bore?
2. lowlevel Says: Usually you are adjusting it so their is the required clearance between the lifter and the cam when it is off the lobe.

So you turn the engine so the lobe of the cam is 180 degrees away from the valve, then use a feeler gauge to measure it. You add or subtract the shims to make the value the correct--it might take a few tries. You will also most likely need something to depress the lifter to install or remove the shims.

The lifter bore is the fancy name for the hole the lifter lives in.
3. Orlando Says: if you have a hydraulic lifters all you have to do is tighten them till there is no noise coming from them with motor running then back off 1/4 turn and that is good to go
