My friend's 93 ford club wagon will not turn over?

Jerome Says: i replaced the starter, the starter relay and battery and still not a sound. i then took a screwdriver on jumped the starter and it cranked up but died after a few seconds. i also noticed the dash lights dont light up when you turn on the key. what could be our problem

Bryan Says: Either a bad ignition switch, or a burnt wire somewhere.You can check the ignition switch by removing the connector that is attached. Either get a wiring diagram for your car and figure out which wires are which, or just test them. Jump the wires so you get the ignition powered (Which will be lights on the dash) accessory powered (which will be the radio, among other lights and things) and then power the starter wire until the car starts. If that works, you obviously have a bad ignition cylinder.
