VW Super Bug 1978 rim and tire question?

1. crossbow1123 Says: I just bought a 1978 vw super bug, the back tires look bald and i was wondering what it might cost to get them replaced, the front rims have a ungodly amound of rust on them, for the rims should i just get new rims of the same size or go to a pick and pull?

3. kbeefy Says: pretty sure standard bug was dropped in the early 70's, only had supers in '78. And yes, easiest giveaway is flat windshield on standards, front struts on supers. Supers also have a dashpad.

Wire brush and scotchbrite your rims, they're probably not nearly as rusty as you think. POR15 is your friend.

Jarod C Says: you can get a new tire and rime package at mamotorworks.com comes with rims and tires mounted. no pull-a-part will have any rims that are going to fit your car. only VW rims will fit and very few other types will fit without adapters. you should just clean yours up . have them sand blasted and painted and get new tires (65$ or more ea.)
