1997 Nissan Altima transmission leaking and wont shift.?

I know I should bring it into a shop but just for you guys opinions what could be wrong with it. It never had any problems before I just hope that what ever is wrong with it doesnt cost me like 1500$ Would like some more opinions if i could get some2. Curtis Says: I would love to help but first i need more info. Is it leaking between the engine and trans? If so than it is most likely a main seal on the trans that is leaking or a leaking torque converter(which is rare) or the trans pump is leaking but most likely its the main seal. The trans would have to come off in order for it to be repaired.3. bandit_60 Says: it,s not shifting right because it is leaking. it won,t shift right if the fluid is too low.
