How to count the mileage when driving for clients?

1. Purblue Says: I had tried search engine but can't seem to get the answer I want. Most I got are mileage about buying cars. And it wasn't the answer I'm looking for.

Say, I use my car to do some groceries for a client, and they are gonna pay, for example .50 per mileage if I use my own car. How do I count the mileage?

Many thanks :)
2. BundyGil ...... suspended once again. Says: You take a reading from your car's odometer before you start doing the mileage for the client and again when you finish, subtract the first from the second, and that's the mileage travelled. Then you multiply the mileage travelled by the eg. $0.50 per mile and you have the amount you need to charge for mileage.
3. vita Says: I too receive mileage for clients I care for if I use my vehicle to transport them what I do is document what the miles on the dashboard are when we get in the car and document what the miles are once we get back from wherever we went. My job had actual mileage sheets but you can make your own and document your own.
4. dieterzakas Says: There are two ways:

(1) Record the beginning and ending mileage as displayed by your car's odometer, and do the math

(2) if your car has one, reset the trip odometer to get the actual distance driven.
