1. James K Says: I purchased a pre owned vehicle from a local dealership and at the day of purchase they told me they will send me the new plates once they get them. Well next week my temporary plates will expire so I rang them up and the salesperson tells me its not their responsibility. What can I do --- do I have a fighting chance? Are they legally responsible?

btw : i live in NC
2. fish rookie Says: If the dealer gave you temp plates, then they registered the vehicle. They should have the plates or they will have to give you another temp. Its illegal for the dealership to let you leave in an unregistered car. Go down to the dealer and tell them you need plates or another temp. The plates do go to the dealer.
3. St N Says: If the dealer did not register the vehicle at the time of purchase and install the plates, then it was and still is your responsibility to register the vehicle and get the plates. Get you carcass down to the DMV office and stand in line. You need to be there as soon as they open on Monday morning so that you can get the registration done. Don't forget to take along your proof of insurance certificate and have the current odometer reading handy.
4. mccoyblues Says: The buyer is responsible for the obtaining the plates. The dealer is only responsible for mailing the information to the state and when the paperwork is ready you'll get a post card from them telling you to go to the DMV and buy your new plates.

Have you gone to the DMV? They don't have your tag information yet? If that is the case the dealer is 100% responsible for getting that information submitted. But the dealer is not responsible for delivering your plates to you.
5. Salted Nuts Says: uh dealers dont mail plates they come from DMV
