1. sunnyday Says: I have a c3 citreon diesel 2003 . it has a few
problems and funny noises for example needs a new key that will cost nearly £200 has funny noise when lights switched on and back windscreen wiper is broken . also needs break pads and a tyre . not sure what to do as parts are so expensive . . should I trade it I'n or get repairs done ?
2. Dylan Says: I would suggest swapping it, or selling it then using that money towards another car... Citreon is french im guessing? All i know is they are rubbish cars to work on, You could get the parts but they will cost you an arm and a leg, to part with a car is like parting with a child.
But in this case this child is posessed...
Get rid of it mate, change is good :) or take it to your local garage and see if they can do it for a cheap price? All im saying is Citroen is one of the biggest 'B*tches' of cars that tend to mess up.
Hope i helped mate
3. Bazza Says: You can take the £200 out of the equation because it will be needed if you trade it in. There are firms that sell key parts if your key still functions.
Shop around for the pads and tyre. these are normal items of expenditure and will arise with any car.
You can forget the rear wiper until you can afford it as it is not an mot item.
The diesel C3 is a very good car. It is very economical and reliable. If you look after it it will go on ad infinitum.
4. ? Says: Post miles on it & how long you owned it and if it's been reliable.

Most of those repairs n maint are minor.

I'd have a C dealer diagnose it.

In the US, the name brand dealers, as opposed to independent shops, monopolize most of the diagnostic & repair info and have special tools that can be very expensive so most indies wont have them.

After a good diagnosis and maybe a 2nd opinion, you'l be in a much better position to make a decision.
5. B W G Says: on a positive side , how much have you put in this car already and how far are you prepared to spend on it further. way up these point`s and if you have the cash for a better car, why not treat yourself. no good putting good money into bad if it`s going that way. buy from a dealer that you know ,shop around for a good deal , Remember you know the car not us even with it`s faults.
6. Timbo is here Says: If you trade it in like that you are going to get a reduced price for it and then you drive away in a car that could need new discs and pads all round and a new key within weeks. A change of car is going to cost you potentially a lot more so money ain't the reason.
7. EvelynThe ModifiedDog. Says: Sounds like you just plain can't afford a car, period.
These things are minor expenses and if you buy another car you'll be £££thousands down. More so if you buy another secondhand one, because who's to say that whatever you buy won't need £500 spending on it?
8. who_is_jack_**** Says: You should be asking if you can afford to drive as Brake pads and tyres are consumables and wear.

Depends on the rest of the state of the car as fixing it may be cheaper than the amount you will lose trading it in and cashing out for another car.
