I have a short fuse. How can I work on it?
(2012-02-06 15:20:07) 1. Says: I have a short fuse. When my boyfriend does something that irritates me and I tell him early on that it irritated me I feel like he just irritates me more and pushes me and pushed the irritation along. And then I raise me voice. And swear. And occasionally yell when I'm really, really mad. Meanwhile, he still thinks we're having a discussion.Do I have a temper? What qualifies as a temper? I do have a short fuse. Do I need anger management?2. Says: this has nothing to do with auto repair's,but some times it is good to get a different type question on here .I was like that at one time and yes you have an anger issue, and also your boyfriend needs to recognize this .This is what I would recommend to you, make yourself an appointment with a Dr. and explain this problem to him/her and they will have you to answer a page full of questions about your feeling's,and nine times out of ten you will need to get medication for this.It isn't a bad ting to take these types of meds. either I am still on it and when I don't take it like for a few day's I get mad at redlight's,or just anything crazy like that. When you do decide to do this you need to take your boyfriend with you and get him envolved in this also, and also you need to deal with this and soon before it get's worse and it will believe me. Hope this helps ya out,let me know. OK3. Says: Sounds like you have been listening to too many Katie Nash albums.
But the trick with anger management is to understand what it really is that upsets you, and find better ways to communicate it.
Just telling him that something irritates you is not enough.
You have to explain better why, and how he would feel over a similar example, if you can think of one.
And if you discover that the irritation is irrational, then admit it.
He will relate to the honesty and be more willing to help avoid being like the jerk boyfriend in a Katie Nash album.4. Says: Sounds like you're getting overly angry at little situations, same thing was happening to me recently... and I had to work on it as well... I learned from a very good book, that the way we perceive a situation is about 20% input/action and 80% is our reaction to that... so the way we react to whatever's going on is the way we're going to perceive and remember that situation. You certainly can control your reaction, and emotions, and you should at times, it will make you a stronger person. Sometimes I feel really angry over something that may or may not be important, and I want to swear or say something mean, but I decide to bite my tongue and say nothing, or continue to be calm.... at the moment it's difficult, but shortly after I feel much better knowing I controlled myself. Good luck!5. Says: This really is a job for a professional. You are not alone - the National Institute of Health estimates 4% of Americans have trouble with "anger dysregulation." It is not easy to treat but it will ruin your life if you can't get a handle on it. It can also bring on early death through a variety of mechanisms. Best of luck to you.6. Says: Yes, you have an anger problem. Sometimes you just need to leave things alone. Take a few slow deep breaths, in through your nose and out through your mouth very slowly before you say anything or react.7. Says: Either you are realy dumb, or you are playing us.
You are aking this question in maintance and repair for cars, not people.8. Says: Your BF is 'playing with your buttons'.
Get a new BF.9. Says: you need to get a longer fuse that might help when asking question about cars Tag: I have a short fuse. How can I work on it?
