Says: Michelle - I'm following you - your original question is to how to bypass the VATS on a 94 camaro, using a resistor from Radio Shack. Correct? You need to get the correct resistance value - did you do that? You can get that value by calling a Chevy dealership and giving them your VIN number. Or, you can attempt to bypass it by obtaining the resistance with a multimeter - "reading" your key when its in the lock. If you don't understand what I'm saying - don't try it, since you'll likely get the wrong value!
Once you get the value, you need to locate the VATS module under your steering wheel - it'll have a purple/white and black/white wire leading up to the lock. Disconnect the plug, and connect the correct resistor into the plug going to the VATS. Leave the key plug disconnected. Your VATS will now think that there's a correct key in the lock - allowing any physically correct key to start the car, even if the resistance "pill" isn't there.
