Which is a better car to buy a 2001 MITSUBISHI GALANT ES or 97 NISSAN ALTIMA GXE?

1. I NEED ANSWERS Says: This will be my first car the Galant has 149 miles on it the Altima has 128k miles on it.. I like both cars but I need to know which is more dependable & will last

2. Xander Says: Well, I'd go with the Galant. It has a very good reliability record, whereas the Altima just has average. Even though the Galant has higher miles, it's newer, and will probably last longer. The Galant also drives very well and looks cool, that's always a plus.

3. hobbabob Says: in my personal opinion the mitsubishi is a better designed and built car, nissan's have some quirks that seem to me unforgivable, such as: the hoops you have to jump through to re-learn the idle speed after cleaning the throttle body.
genuine mitsubishi service parts are high, approx 30% across the board compared to other brands
[starters,alternators,clutches etc.] they hold up though
if properly cared for both cars will last.
your best bet is to have both cars examined by YOUR trusted mechanic before any money changes hands and then pick the actual better of the two.
