Michael Says: Thinking about buying an sti. They already come with great performance. Would it really do much performance wise to put new exhaust and intake on a stock sti?

hello i'm a wrx Says: A catback exhaust by itself will give you all of about 5-10hp. If you want to get some power from your exhaust system, go turbo back and get something like an accesport to reflash your ecu. That would give you something like 50-60hp I think they claim. An intake wont really do much besides possibly mess up your a/f ratios. You may get a little bit of performance gains, but nothing noticeable. People usually buy intakes for the increased spool sound it gives your car.

johnniespaceboy Says: i cant tell you exact numbers but from what I understand the subaru STI is basically a street legal version of the Subaru Rally car. They have pimped that thing out from japan way before you get it..... they have put millions of dollars into research and development to make the car not only fast, reliable and durable. Do you really think some idiot speed junky or a company that sells you the parts is going to be as reputable as the actual company it came from? what im saying is sure you can probably punch a few more horses out of it but youll void the warrenty if there is one, racing parts never come with a guarentee because you can romp the crap out of them, and in the end you might blow your engine because you havent tuned and put all the research and development in. Not to mention if you ever need to sell the car you wont get your money out of the accesories. You never do...... so is it worth it.... maybe if youve got too much money and time on your hands..... personally i think the sti has more than enough balls on its own leave it from the factory youll be happier

Sean Says: No matter what kind of car it is, there's always extra power to be had and extra performance to be had from aftermarket parts. The aftermarket isn't handcuffed by CAFE, CARB or any other restrictions for emissions, NVH like the manufacturers are. Those basic parts aren't going to make a whole lot of difference, but they will help support future modifications.
